Happy Easter!

Our boys had been sick this past week, see pic 1 (watching Elmo's World was about the only thing they could do without crying). It was a LONG week for Katie and I...and the boys.

Today, however, was great, busy as all of life is but a great day. (Katie and I are still looking for 21st century simplicity, the kind where technology actually makes life simpler. I don't think it exists.) The sermon was stirring, we shared 4 baptisms and yes, I got to do my first and church felt like...well church, I suppose.

The boys were dressed up in the resurrection duds and had a great time. For the rest of the day, I plan on cleaning up the kitchen, grilling out some steak (Wiley and I are running to the store when he gets up), and playing with my sons. That is it. That is all I want. Maybe that is 21st century simplicity.

Doing what they love

Wiley loves to lay around - especially if mom and dad are holding him. Owen loves to read. He has new reading glasses that help him read some of his favorite books: Barnyard Banter, Green Eggs and Ham, and Goodnight Moon.

Wiley Comes Home

It is crazy late right now! Katie is in bed feeding Wiley. Our first night home with Wiley has gone something like this. Sleep, wake, sleep, wake, Wiley cries, Owen cries, Mommy feeds Wiley, Owen cries because mommy can't comfort him, daddy tries to offer some support to Owen but he just wants MOMMY!!!, Wiley feeds, Owen settles down, we sleep and then start the routine over again in a few hours.
Wiley really is a terrific baby! He cries very little and sleeps and eats in large chunks. We fell in love with him immediately. Enjoy the clips of Wiley. We miss you all and look forward to seeing you soon.

Baby Wiley!!!

Wiley Jacob Davis was born on September 4, 2008 at 3:05 am! He weighs 8 lbs and 3 oz, is 21.5 inches long, and already has more hair than his dad!
Wiley was named after Wiley Guthrie, a military chaplain, pastor, friend and mentor of Adam's. He cares deeply for poeple and is passionate about God and golf! Jacob is the name of the first Kaelber that settled in the States; it has run through Katie's family for years. Jacob is her brother, Kurt's, middle name.
We can not wait for you to meet our new baby boy. We miss all of you who can not be here. Thanks to our friends and neighbors who have helped watch Owen, bring food, and take care of the details!

Preparing for Wiley

This has been a very busy week! We finished the sale of our old home, purchased our new home, moved boxes, (with the help of some wonderful friends - thanks), and finished up last minute details in preparation for Wiley. We rested tonight and plan to rest on labor day tomorrow - though we are planning for surprises. We miss you.

Jumping on the Bed

Owen LOVES to jump on our bed! I line the pillows in the center of the bed, give him one good toss and he does the rest. He can spend literally hours jumping on the bed. He flales himself down, (pictured above) and then giggles when he lands. Dad serves as the bedrail in this game - catching him if he flales too far to one side or the other. I LOVE it too.

The Ring Bearer

Owen was the ring bearer this past Saturday for our friend's Ryan and Laura's wedding. He got a little spooked walking down the aisle with just his mom's hand, so Katie picked him up and carried him. After the fact, we were not sure whether Owen or Katie was technically the ring bearer. First of all, neither one was carrying the ring; the best man had the ring in his pocket. Secondly, if someone else is bearing the bearer, and the bearer does not have the ring in the first place...well by this point we were just confused. It was a wonderful wedding though and we enjoyed seeing old friends and watching Owen dance the night away in his tuxedo. He was a doll and we loved every minute of it!

Wedding Seasons

We will be attending five weddings this summer! We figured a tux was in order for the little guy. He seems to really like wearing the jacket. He knows when he is on stage. As soon as we put the jacket on, he started strutting his stuff and swinging his arms from side to side. I love this guy!

This short clip is a montage of what Katie and I think are really cute moments in Owen's life. I filmed most of the clip in one day, but his crazy morning hairdo when he waves goodbye was filmed at an earler time while he was very sick. He had been sick since December and just could not shake his ear infection. He is much better now, thank the Lord!
Owen is a world of fun...a constant source of free entertainment.

Standing Tall

Owen loves to be outside! We often will find him by the front door crouching on all fours with his neck raised toward the sky, saying OUUUSIDEE! OUUSIDE! He loves his new swing that Baba, Grandpa Davis, hung for him last week. He loves our neigbor, Nene's cats. He enjoys running down hills and a good game of chase. He loves to yell eaf (leaf), airpane, tee (tree), and tee tee (bird).

stumbling to daddy

Uploading this video has taken me far too many hours. Nevertheless, it was worth it. This was from footage of him in October. He is walking very well now, tackling hills, stairs and uneven surfaces. In October, however, he was still learning. Oh and yes, he still screams like he does in the video; daddy loves it!

Halloween!!!

Owen was a dinosaur, a great dinosaur. We prepped him before his big night, perfecting his dinosaur growl. Strangely it sounded very much like his lion growl...which sounds like his bear growl...which sounds like his tiger growl.

We moved from house to house asking Owen at each, "Owen, what does a dinosaur say?" And though it had been a long night and he was already tired he growled on cue.

Owen refused to wear hats or beenies, except dad's. On Oct 17, he walked from coutertop to crate. He could hardly see where he was going. He looked adorable!

Learning to Walk

This is a short compilation on Owen's first steps. From lifting himself up to pushing a cooler around our dining room floor - he was learning how to move his little legs. He now takes bursts of little steps coupled with a shriek of excitement and a great smile.

It's been a long time coming! Yellow Cup is finally here.
This short clip is from a few months ago, (Katie and I are catching up on a lot of things). Owen seems to enjoy the little things: running water, lights turning on and off, a good game of chase, oh and yes, a yellow cup.

I have had some problems with uploaing video. Katie and I took Owen to a pumpkin patch. He decided that pumpkins make great drums and their stems were great to pick at. Oh, and yes we did match his shirt with the orange pumpkins.

An update on our growing boy! These pictures range from 7 months - 10 months (he will be 11 months on October 10)!

In first picture, Owen was about 9 months and had just stepped out of the bath. He loves to be in the water, so towell time must feel like a punishment. He perks up quickly though, as you can see.

In the second picture, Owen was 7 months and relaxing with Bear after Katie dabbed some cold water on him; it was a hot summer's day in Ohio.

Shaking his groove

Sitting outside the Mobile Gas Station, we listened to live blue grass, (our friend Sarah Cupery was on the fiddle), ate lobster taquitos, and enjoyed the sunset over lake ??? outside of Yosemite.
